What is this Acid Versus Alkaline Craze?

Your body has to ability to become either acidic or alkaline. The optimum is a good balance between the two.

Unfortunately today’s diet and lifestyle cause many of us to become acidic.

When our bodies become too acidic, everything starts to go awry. A vast array of modern day illnesses and diseases like; arthritis, asthma, allergies and migraine to high blood pressure, chronic fatigue, early ageing, excess weight, eczema and other skin complaints and even serious, life-threatening conditions can be caused by an acidic ph balance.

Acidosis is caused from a diet of acidic foods, emotional stress, toxic overload, and/or immune reactions or any process that deprives the cells of oxygen and other nutrients. The body will try to compensate for acidic pH by using it’s own alkaline minerals. If the diet does not contain enough minerals to compensate, a build up of acids in the cells will occur. This is when everything starts to break down.

It’s a constant battle for our body to remain balanced in today’s world with our typical diet consisting of meat, cheese, butter, bread, sugar, coffee, alcohol and soft drinks. Even things like artificial sweeteners are extremely acid forming.

The internationally recommended diet to get your body back to optimum pH for human health consists of foods that are 80% alkaline and 20% acidic. I think after your have restored your bodies pH balance again you can lower it to maybe 70% Alkaline.

There are all sorts of alkaline water purifiers and alkaline testing kits and much more available to help combat this issue. Staying properly hydrated is probably the most important element of the alkaline diet. Actually Tap water can be mildly acidic in most areas, with a low pH and traces of pesticides, heavy metals and fluoride. I have an amazing alkaline purifier myself which is great, but I do believe the best thing you can do is drinks lots of water and get your diet adjusted to having an optimum level of alkali-producing foods.

I’ll list all the alkalizing foods on a special blog here for you. Give it a go, it really will help your health in a massive way. Even having a lemon juice in the morning in warm water is an extremely alkalizing way to start the day.

The lower the pH reading, the more acidic it is. The pH range is from 0 to 14 with 7.0 being neutral. Anything above 7.0 is alkaline. Anything below is considered acidic. Body tissues function optimally at a slightly alkaline pH of 7.365.
