Healthy Kids Breakfast – Try Our Yummy & Quick Bananarama Smoothie!

Healthy Kids Breakfast Smoothie or After School Snack
Alongside a boiled egg, this will make a great healthy kids breakfast, and if you want to boost it up even more, try adding some of the ingredients from the extra add in list below. Best to test the taste of the Flaxseed oil with your children before adding that because if they don’t like it you can always spoon it down instead of adding it to their smoothie.

1 Banana
1 cup of Milk
1 big scoop of natural Yoghurt
1 small spoonful of organic Honey
1/3 small teaspoon of Cinnamon

Extra add ins:
1 teaspoon LSA (Linseed, Sunflower Seeds, Almond Meal)
1/2 teaspoon Vitamin C
1 x teaspoon of Flaxseed oil

Slice up the banana.
Place all ingredients into blender, leaving the cinnamon and honey till last.
Whip till smooth

Our Bananarama is a healthy kids breakfast but I would give this to your kids as well as their usual breakfast, like a boiled egg or nuts and yoghurt.
It’s also a great snack to have after school and one which the children can prepare themselves. Promoting fun tasks that require a little responsibility for the children to do develops their confidence and brain development. Just make sure they don’t pour half the bottle of honey in!
You can replace Cow’s Milk with Organic Brown Rice Milk and it is still delicious.
It’s best to buy organic honey because it has all it’s amazing nutrients whereas processed honey is heat treated which kills off the goodness, leaving just the sweet taste behind.
Only use LSA which has Almond meal in it if you are NOT allergic to nuts.

Some Health Benefits:
Bananas are low in calories, but high in fibre, vitamin B6, vitamin C and potassium. The fibre keeps you full and satisfied. B6 is a mood enhancer. Vitamin C boosts your immune system, and potassium controls your blood pressure.
The Omega-3 from the flaxseed oil supports brain development, has anti inflammatory properties and can help kids who suffer from dry eyes
Studies have shown Cinnamon can:
Regulate Blood Sugar – Which is not only good for diabetics but great with kids as it helps keep moods level.
Reduce LDL Cholesterol Levels
Has it’s own anti-infectious compounds.
Is effective for menstrual pain, some infertility and can help to balance hormones.
It has even been said to reduce chronic inflammation linked to neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s.
